The Principal, Enoghi Secondary School, Ikom, Cross River State, Mr. Nicholas Egom Ogar, has pledged to personally lead the advocacy campaign of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) in his community and its environs.

Ogar, who made the undertaking in his welcome address to the NOUN advocacy campaign delegation to his school on Tuesday, 28 September, 2021, expressed great delight at the visit and commended the management of the university in Ikom for extending the sensitisation exercise to his school.

The centre director, Ikom Community Study Centre, Dr. Edwin Bassey, while explaining the purpose of his visit to the secondary school, said he and his team found it necessary to mount an enlightenment campaign at Enoghi Secondary School on what NOUN, the foremost Open and Distance Learning (ODL) institution in West Africa, has to offer.

Bassey opined that such sensitisation would enable the teachers of the school take an informed decision in their desire to upgrade their academic status, stressing that NOUN has also, in recent times, become the toast of many young school leavers, who have found the university very attractive in circumventing impassable hurdles posed by the conventional universities in admission placement.

In a similar development, Bassey had led his team on advocacy campaign to Holy Family Secondary School also in Ikom on Monday, 27 September, 2021.

The NOUN delegation at that event was received by the principal of the college, Reverend Father Odugbo Godwin Mpeete, who expressed delight at the visit while describing it as a welcome development.

Mpeete, who saw the advocacy visit as an eye-opener on the programmes and operations of NOUN, assured Bassey and his team that he would further encourage his staff and students to take advantage of the flexible instructional delivery of the university to enrol in order to improve upon their academic standing.
